First Storytapes provide recordings of the stories which accompany the twelve wordless picture books at Stage 1 of the Oxford Reading Tree.

Each of the twelve stories is expressively read by a different well know actor or personality, so that a variety of voices and accents is offerent, as the national curriculum recommends.

The use of the story recordings in conjunction with the picture books helps the beginner reader to absorb the story detail, predict the story sequence, memorise the story structure, and retell it in his or her own words to an adult.

A recorded tone indicates when to turn the page.
