This book in the Phonological Awareness Training (PAT) series helps children to move from an awareness of rhyme patterns to a focus on phonemes, with particular emphasis on vowel patterns.  
 
Various spelling patterns for long and short vowels are included.
 
Following the familiar PAT structure of worksheets, reading/spelling lists and sentences for dictation, these materials are suitable for use with individual children or small groups.
There is added emphasis on active investigation which incorporates dictionary work, making this an ideal resource for use in the Literacy Hour.
